Shuuu…

I used to ask questions while already holding the answer in my mind. Because of that, I couldn’t truly hear the other person’s response—especially when their answer didn’t match the one I’d already decided on.

No one enjoys being asked the same question over and over. I made this mistake often. I would ask a question, receive silence, and assume they hadn’t answered. I kept pushing, unaware that the answer had been there all along—sometimes silence is the answer.

Experience has taught me that I can learn a lot from what people don’t say directly—or don’t say at all. And that begins with recognising the noise of my own mind, quieting it, and listening—not just to words, but to tone, to posture, and to the things left unsaid.
