Brand identity and mobile app design for a video interview platform that simplifies the early stages of the recruiting process.
Brand Identity · App Design
Interviwo is a fast, effortless video interview platform that closes the gap between employers and job seekers. They needed a design partner to transition existing complex products into easy-to-use experience designs.
Interviwo challenged us to simplify their core values through the way people experience their mobile apps and to give its platform a new personality.
During the discovery phase, we started at the end. Instead of creating a pack of features, we focused on supercilious things that most benefit our end users. We did one-on-one interviews with two of the co-founders to explore how the design will function for the business goals.
In a strategic session, we developed a flow of how people discover, learning and using the products to achieve their goals. We drafted a mission and vision statement around that, which we called “the project mindset.” Then we developed a competitive analysis to compare competitors’ strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities in the marketplace.
The design strategy session does not just help our design team to understand Interviwo from a users’ point of view, but it also helps us to reframe a problem to see more opportunities in the design challenge.
From the discovery phase, we’ve discovered that Interviwo did not have control over how they were presented. It was clear that the existing brand is no longer matched with the new values and needed an overhaul.
We developed a new identity from a conceptual point-of-view and kept it lean by deciding on a “Minimum Viable Identity” to start with. Then, we add more brand touchpoints as needed on the go.

We mocked up more than a hundred screens to ensure that we can experience the product from the user’s gut feeling point of view before we ship the product into the production stage.
We use rapid prototyping to test, validate and iterate the UX ideas with the team and testing user. At this point, we allow ourselves to stumble with the team as long as we fall forward and the testing user keeps surprising us.
We prototyped to hear the unspeakable language that transforms a complex task into intuitive experience design. We use the Atomic Design technique to make sure our iteration process can be fast and not interrupt the learning curve we have established.
In a nutshell, Interviwo first engaged us to design the “job-seekers’ app” and then re-engaged us for the “employer app.” Both apps work harmoniously on their platform even though we designed them at different times. We defined a core-experience of each app based on user benefits while capturing business goals we identified from the discovery phase.
